Logistics and Vocational training Assistance for
Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Azerbaijan

OUTCOMES
& ACHIEVEMENTS:
2006
-
30 refugees and
asylum-seekers acquired vocational skills on 11 trades
-
The youth who acquired
vocational skills were conducted small business trainings, 4 of them
were provided with grants for starting up business activity;
-
60 youth acquired
computer skills and 300 youth internet skills;
-
Humanitarian relief
items were distributed among 9 700 refugees and asylum-seekers (in 3
stages)

25 youth acquired vocational skill;

The 11 youth who
acquired vocational skills were involved in business trainings for the
purposes of building their own entrepreneurship and small business
activities;

16 youth acquired computer skills;
-
1459 refugees and
asylum-seekers were distributed non-food relief items.

Attention
of international agencies performing work in Azerbaijan increased
towards the target group.
Central and local governmental agencies
decreased artificial obstacles, and considerable
changes have been attained in direction of
involving asylum-seekers in education;

13 (3 men and 10
women) people completed apprenticeship courses on 4 trades, and
awarded with certificates;
-
Disbelief
of
Azerbaijan business bodies
towards the asylum-seekers
has already changed and
relations have been formed between them and small
service-providers and entrepreneurs;
-
13 asylum-seekers
acquired self-reliance and skills, and
formed relations with entrepreneurs and on-the-job
trainers active in Azerbaijan;
-
7 youth (apprentices
of cookery and dress-making courses) began to make income for their
families 2 months after the start of the courses, 3 people began working in the workshops where they
made an income, and 2 people found
jobs in other places;
-
4 people were involved
in business and entrepreneurship trainings in order to increase their
business skills.
