The Bus will tour to the towns and villages in both Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Technology will mainly include simple solar panel heaters, wind power generators, mini-hydro plants (mostly for Georgia), heat pumps using the readily available Russian air conditioning units as a base, sawdust heaters, optimizing the existing appliances to reduce energy consumption, biogas units which generate cooking gas, advice on insulation of houses, advice on how to reduce energy consumption, emergency light, lamps more effective, better use of gas, gas field water heaters, etc.

The project is planned to be implemented in 3 phases.

The first phase: Analyses and preparation period of the project
The second phase: Preparation to design of the Bus and demonstration
The third phase: Demonstration in communities

To raise awareness of consumers about effective usage of energy resources

OBJECTIVES:

  • Promote the conservation of energy use in rural areas of Azerbaijan and later in Georgia through the mobile demonstration of equipment and technologies;

  • Demonstrate the use of effective, inexpensive technologies involving alternative/clean energy;

  • Promote the production of equipment for the generation of energy and for energy efficiency in the regions, in part by promoting the use of microfinance resources. It is expected that new entrepreneurs will become interested in the production of the equipment demonstrated and will create new businesses for this purpose;

  • Mobilize communities such they can work together both to conserve energy and also to gain access to new sources of energy.

  • Demonstration and training materials, such as brochures, posters, booklets, examples and photos detailing energy consumption (effective or ineffective) in places and demonstration modules will be developed and produced;

  • Models/photo types of various technologies and products for the conservation and effective use of local resources will be developed;

  • Community members will be provided with the information about social projects, implemented in communities along BTC pipeline, as well as the energy Bus Project;

  • Energy Specialist will help the local community members to carry out practical work to improve and upgrade facilities;

  • A possibility of installation of any alternative energy sources in the community will be identified.
