On January 21st, 2010 signing ceremony of “Repair of inter-communal roads” microproject within “Management of Community Micro-projects” project, implemented by Umid HSSC, Ganja Regional Organization of “Bilik” Educational Society and AYEO under financial support of BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd. and Partners was held in Mulkulu community of Tovuz region.

Representatives of BP, Umid HSSC’s, chairman of “Perlit” LLC, chairman of municipality, community group and community activists participated in the ceremony.

Total project amount comprises 21 758.00 AZN.    
 

A ceremony of presentation of  “Cleaining Irregation ditches” project to the publicity was organized in Gadili Community of Samukh region on December 16, 2009.

“Cleaining Irregation ditches” micro project was implemented within “Management of Community Micro-projects” project under financial support of BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd. & Partners. As a result of successfully implemented project, the irrigation ditch with a total length of 11, 4 km 2 was cleaned. Also, 400 m2  of  dam and course of the irrigation ditch was cleaned by hand, from solid waste, reeds & bushes and 13680 m2  of the irrigation ditch was cleaned with an excavator.

Umid HSSC’s project personnel, Gadili Rural Municipality & ExCom members, as well as the community activists participated in the opening ceremony.  
 

A ceremony of presentation of “Repair of a central asphalt road” microproject to the publicity was organized in Kechili community of Shamkir region on December 09, 2009. “Repair of a central asphalt road” microproject was implemented within “Management of Community Micro-projects” project under financial support of BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd. and Partners.As a result of successfully implemented project, 2800 m2 of the asphalt road of the community with a length of 3900 meters was rehabilitated.

«Umid» HSSC and CHF International completed their performance in the north-eastern regions of Azerbaijan. For this purpose, a closeout ceremony of Community Development Activity Program of United States Agency of International Development (USAID) was organized in «Aynur» Relax Center in Guba town on 22nd of April, 2009 at 10.30 a.m.

This program, aimed at mobilization of communities and supporting implementation of local social-economic infrastructure projects in the north-eastern regions of the Republic, i.e. in Guba, Gusar, Khachmaz and Davachi regions, has been implemented since 2005 by the national non-governmental organization of «Umid» Humanitarian and Social Support Center («Umid» HSSC) under financial support of USAID and technical support of CHF International.
 

16 youth involved in vocational skills development training through Apprenticeship method from Garadagh region Sahil, Sangachal, Umid settlements, 20th district, Bayil settlement, and from communities located in Zykh platform were presented certificates on February 24, 2009 related to completion of the courses.

The apprenticeship courses were organized within frameworks of «Youth Employment and Economic Opportunities Expansion Initiative along Baku Corridor» project implemented by «Umid» HSSC under financial support of BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Ltd and its Partners.

5 graduates of Apprenticeship courses signed Agreements on Jump-Start Economic Projects on November 28, 2008. The graduates were provided with financial support to start up their business and launch entrepreneurship activity within the frameworks of the agreements.

The apprenticeship courses were implemented with the framework of «Education for Development , Apprenticeship Program for IDP Youth and Logistical support for IDPs» Project under the financial support of UNHCR in Sumgait.

 7 Community Projects were successfully completed in North-East regions

«Umid» Humanitarian and Social Support Center arranged the opening ceremonies of 7 Community projects implemented by «Umid» Humanitarian & Social Support Center under the financial support of USAID and technical support of International CHF in Guba, Khachmaz, Davachi and Gusar regions.

These community projects was identified as a priority by the Community Development Councils and will serve to improve the living conditions of population.

19 youth received vocational skills through apprenticeship method in Sahil settlement of Garadagh region were awarded with certificates on April 11, 2008.

Apprenticeship courses were organized within the framework of Future Communities Program implemented by «Umid» Humanitarian and Social Support Center under financial support of BP and its partners, and technical support of Save the Children.

On April 9, 2008, the opening ceremonies of Water Purification Devices in Atakishili and Chohranli Communities of Kurdamir region and Alpout and Garabork Communities of Ujar region were arranged to handover the devices for utilization.

The Water Purification Devices were installed within Improvement of provision of potable water- II Stage project implemented by Umid Humanitarian and Social Support Center under the financial support of BP and its Co-Ventures.

«Improvement of potable water provision in the communities along Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline» project, implemented by «Umid» HSSC, was declared a national winner for Azerbaijan amongst 853 projects submitted by 109 countries.

«Improvement of potable water provision in the communities along Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline» project has been implemented in Kurdamir, Ujar and Agdash regions under financial support of BP and its partners since 2005.

 

Novruz Holiday Event was organized in Hajihuseynli village on March 17, 2008

Though about an hour remained till the beginning of an event, there gathered a lot of people in the Central Square of Hajihuseynli village. Everybody from children to adults was lived a holiday happiness. This day was double holiday for them. Everyone spoke about that the organizations of CHF and «Umid»HSSC, implemented projects in their village, shared their happiness and that they brought present to this event as well.

Apprenticeship graduates were involved into business trainings

On March 13-14, 2008, a Business Training was conducted with the participation of 17 youth enhanced their vocational capacities on hair-dressing, auto-engine fitting, electric engine fitting, cell-phone repair, computer programming via the apprenticeship courses realized in the areas of sahil settlement of Garadagh rayon.

On September 15, 2007, the opening ceremony of newly repaired classrooms in Kelbadjar secondary school # 117 was celebrated.

Since July 2007, the repair-construction activities were implemented in 4 classrooms and 2 community rooms in three schools – in Fizuli region secondary school #9 and Kelbadjar region secondary school # 117 and in Demirchiler village school of Gubadly region, the ceilings and floors of 11 classrooms and 1 community room were repaired.

16 IDP youths graduated from apprenticeship course were certified
 

The 10th of September,2007, Sumgait city

On September 10, 2007, the certificates were presented to 16 IDP youth who acquired vocational skills through Apprenticeship method.

The youth have acquired relevant skills in the barber and hairdresser, engine repairs, confectionery, dressmaker, welder, mobile phone repairs, car fitter and photo-video courses they attended since March 2007.

On June 27, 2007 the award ceremony of the winners of the painting and article contest on «Environment, Energy Use and Safety» was held in Tovuz region.

134 articles and 286 paintings were submitted from 19 secondary schools in Tovuz and Akstafa regions. The paintings and articles submitted for the contest were evaluated and 28 schoolchildren were awarded various prizes.

16 February, 2007, Yevlakh region

On February 16, 2007 a ceremony was arranged for awarding the winners of painting and article contests arranged on «Environment, Energy and Safety» in Yevlakh region.

113 articles and 87 paintings were submitted from 12 secondary schools of Agdash and Yevlakh regions on «Environment», «Enegy» and «Safety» topics. Paintings and articles introduced to the contest were evaluated, and 30 of them were awarded various prizes.

Solar panels were installed in Karrar village Community for electricity energy

Solar panels have been installed on a water purifier placed in Karrar village community of Kurdamir region.

This Solar Energy Device consisting of 2 Solar Panels and Batteries has an energy power of 3,6 kV. The device helps supply the water purifier and water pump with energy. Moreover, lightening the surrounding area is implemented with energy produced by this device.

17 asylum-seeking youth have gained vocational skills

On September 15, 2006 «School day» was celebrated in Gubadly region's Khalaj rural school named after B.Asgerov.

The opening ceremony was attended by UNHCR representatives, by an representative from the department of Apparatus of Cabinet of Ministries for problems of Refugees and IDPs, immigration and work with international agencies, by the Head of Gubadly region ExCom, by a representative of Sumgayit ExCom and by the Head of Gubadly region Education Department, as well as by teachers and community members.

On September 14, 2006 "Umid" HSSC held a meeting in Zangilan region's secondary schools #116, 63 and 7 with nearly 120 graduates of the class of 2006 who were accepted to colleges and universities for undergraduate education.

The meeting arranged within the Technip-funded Zykh Community Information Project was mainly for congratulating the graduates and for providing them with detailed information on BP/Shahdeniz and "Umid" HSSC.

A regional Conference was held in Guba

On July 26, 2006 International CHF and "Umid" HSSC  jointly held a conference  in Guba.

The conference was aimed at the establishment of inter-communityrelations, at strengthening relationships with Community Development Councils, municipality and local executive bodies, and at exchange of experiences by communities which have already implemented projects.

On July 4, a ceremony on putting into operation the Water Purification Units in Gulaband community of Ujar region was arranged.

A future craftsman on the way of development

"Support of a Child to a Child" charity campaign

On June 7, 2006 Save the Children and «Umid» HSSC held a "Support of a Child to a Child" charity campaign in SOS Ganja Children Village.

During the campaign 9 young apprentices who acquired vocational skills by Apprenticeship method within the framework of the "Community Investment Program" and 5 on-the-job trainers who gave hairdressing lessons to 16 children and 5 mothers and aunts living in SOS Ganja Children Village.

5 asylum-seeking youth gained computer skills
26 April, 2006, Baku Business Center, Baku

On May 24, 2006, 5 youth who successfully completed the computer courses within the project Logistical support and apprenticeship courses for asylum-seekers in Azerbaijan were awarded certificates.

These youth, being the citizens of Chechnya, had been attending the vocational trainings 3 days a week, and permamently and independently benefiting from internet services since March.
 

"Umid" HSSC is proceeding to build the capacities of National NGOs

Novruz holiday with its ancient history is celebrated by Azerbaijanis with great festivity. Novruz is the celebration of new year, welcoming of the first day of graceful spring. Novruz immortalizes our moral values, customs, and traditions of long ages, creates a healthy and firm foundation for the strengthening of solidity and tenderness, care and kindness among people. For this very purpose Novruz Celebrations were arranged with participation of Zykh Communities in Khatai District on March 14 2006, the last Tuesday before Novruz Holiday.

Foundation Laying Ceremony was arranged in order to install water purification technologies

The first Foundation Laying Ceremony was organized in Gulabend community of Ujar region on March 15, 2006 to install water purification technologies. The event was held with participation of community members, BTC and Azerbaijan Rural Investment Project representatives, and members of neighboring communities.  The next demonstration of the Energy Bus took place in communities of Samukh region on 19-22 September 2005. The demonstration was implemented within the "Effective Energy Usage of Communities and Enlightenment on Improvement of Access to Alternative Energy Sources" project. A contract signed with a community for implementation of one more micro project

A contract was signed on March 29, 2005 on a project Installation of a mini park with Tokhuju community formed by "Umid" HSSC and functioning in Zykh Highway area of Khatai region.

This micro project is to be realized within the BP- funded Zykh Community Development Initiative Project which is implemented by "Umid" HSSC in the area.

The next test demonstration of the Energy Bus was arranged at Kimyachilar settlement of Sumgait on March 28’ 2005.

108 people representing the Kimyachilar community members and members of Teacher Parent Association (TPA) active in secondary school # 5 of Jabrayil region participated in the event.

Repair works in kindergarten # 315 were completed

On March 24, 2004 "Umid" HSSC held the opening ceremony on the completion of the project on restoration and repair of water-sewerage system, kitchen, laundry and dish-washing place in the kindergarten #315 situated in Zykh area.

The next Test Demonstration of the Energy Bus was arranged in Umid district

Presentation of the Energy Bus and the next test demonstration was arranged in Umid settlement of Garadagh region with the request of BP on March 01’ 2005 in order to improve the implementation of the project.

The elevators of the hostel # 9 were eventually restored..

A ceremony was held on February 25, 2005. It was devoted to completion of the "Restoration of the Elevators of the Hostel #9" project which was realized by Doghru Yol community within Zykh Community Development Initiative project which is implemented by "Umid" HSSC with BP/ShahDeniz.

The Effective Usage of Energy Resources and Access to Alternative Energy Sources project grasped an interest of some international and local agencies

With the request of BP the next test demonstration of the Energy Bus was arranged on February 04  2005. 12 representatives of BP, Eurasia Foundation, AzerEnergy Company, Energy Institute and credit agencies participated in the demonstration.

The first Community Demonstration of the Energy Bus was arranged in Khatai district, surrounding area of the Textile Complex named after H.Z.Tagiyev

The first community demonstration of the Energy Bus was arranged on January 12, 2005, by "Umid" HSSC within the framework of the "Effective Usage of the Energy by Communities and Access to Alternative Energy Sources" project. Two initial demonstrations were arranged for "Umid" HSSC and BP staff.

One more IDP school was repaired under the support of Japan Embassy

On December 27, 2004 "Umid" HSSC held the opening a ceremony on the completion of the project to improve educational facilities and the livelihood of the IDPs populated in the administrative building of the Iron-Concrete Plant #1 of Sumgait at Gubadli region Farjan rural school within the framework of the "Grass roots and Human Safety" Grant Programme of Japan Governance.

 

The Round Table was arranged on completion of the "Humanity is the Peculiarity Belonging Only to a Human" project within the framework of the "Zykh Community Development Initiative Project"

The first ring of the idea - chain of Community Education Projects within the framework of Zykh Community Development initiative project implemented by "Umid" HSSC with BP's funding was the idea of providing barber services to the children living in SOS-Childern's Village Association Azerbaijan. After appropriate negotiations with relevant parties a proposal and business plan was elaborated and the project launched its implementation intended by the plan.
