Communities of
Kurdamir & Ujar regions were provided with potable water

Kurdamir and Ujar regions
On April 9, 2008, the opening ceremonies of
Water Purification Devices in Atakishili and Chohranli Communities of
Kurdamir region and Alpout and Garabork Communities of Ujar region were
arranged to handover the devices for utilization.
The Water Purification Devices were installed within Improvement of
provision of potable water- II Stage project implemented by Umid
Humanitarian and Social Support Center under the financial support of BP
and its Co-Ventures.
Community members mainly used the ditch water coming from the
distribution pipes of the Upper Shirvan Canal. The litters thrown to the
ditches by community members, daily wastes from the entities located in
the area, mineral fertilizers and their inappropriate usage has
disturbed the ecological balance in the places where the ditches are in
the village. Using simple technologies the community members partly
purify the water, nevertheless the polluted composition remains the same
and causes increase of infectious diseases.
Modern, easy to use and utilize water purification device, has been
installed in the community in order to solve the problem.
Water used by the inhabitants will be purified and delivered to them in
pure form through a modern water purifier installed by an executive
agency Ekvator-M LLC, the winner of the bid.
Quality of the water purified through water purifiers was analyzed by
MediClub Company, the purified water is in compliance with norms
according to findings of the Company.
The event was attended by representatives of BP, the first Deputy Head
of ExCom of Ujar and Kurdamir regions, specialists of Goychay Regional
Department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Recourses,
representatives of Local Water Office, United Water Channel Department,
as well as by leaders and members of neighbouring communities.
